Gabrielle Bullock of Bygones of Worcester to narrate The Nutcracker

The owner of a long-established antiques business near Worcester Cathedral will bring the story of The Nutcracker Act 1 to life in January for the Worcester Philharmonic’s New Year Gala.

Gabrielle Bullock, of Bygones of Worcester, will narrate the work at Pershore Abbey on Saturday, January 5, at 2.30pm.

A singer, actor and businesswoman, she has taken the role of narrator for The Proteus Ensemble, a group that consists of singers from all over the UK.

She has also appeared at some of the Three Choirs’ Festival concerts at Pershore Abbey. She is a member of the Worcester Festival Choral Society and has sung in the Three Choirs’ Festivals for many years.

Bygones of Worcester was established by her family, a century ago. Gabrielle is a member of the London and Provincial Antiques Dealers’ Association and a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and Diamond Member of the Gemmological Association.

In The Nutcracker two children enjoy their Christmas party but when all the guests have departed their toys come to life and battle against an army of rats. The action is controlled by a magician and after many twists and turns, he ensures a happy ending is achieved.

After the interval New Year Viennese favourites by Strauss, Suppe and Lehar will be performed.

The concert will be conducted by Neil Aston, the orchestra’s principal conductor.

Tickets are available from Tourist Information Centres in Worcester, Pershore, Evesham and Malvern and on-line at ticketsource.co.uk/worcesterphilharmonicorchestra
