Drivers slow up to avoid the fines

October 01 2019

Further to reading your story in St Peter’s Voice, I am a retired resident living in Aycliffe Road.

We hear accelerating cars and motorcycles quite a lot travelling up and down the Southern Link Road even though we are quite a distance away.

Normal speed cameras are a waste of time and money as the vehicles slow down when they approach and then accelerate after passing the camera.

The best way to solve the speeding problem is average speed cameras. They seem to work on the M5 from Frankley and through to West Bromwich.

I have also seen them working on the A38 around the Tamworth area.

I am sure this is the best way to go to slow vehicles down.
