Deadline looming to register to vote in Worcester city and St Peter's parish elections
People have until Friday, April 12 to register to vote in May’s Worcester elections.
To be eligible to vote in elections for Worcester City Council and St Peter’s Parish Council elections residents must be on the electoral register.
Anyone who wants to cast their vote needs to make sure they are registered at their current address by midnight on April 12.
Shane Flynn, Electoral Registration Officer for Worcester City Council, urged people to act quickly, saying they should find their NI number and head to gov.uk/register-to-vote.
He explained: “These elections are an opportunity to make your voice heard by deciding who represents you on issues that directly affect your day-to-day life here in Worcester.
“If you’re not registered by April 12, you won’t be able to vote on May 2.”
Chris Hinde, Electoral Commission Regional Manager for the Midlands, said: “If you have recently turned 18 or moved home, it is particularly important that you act to ensure you are registered to vote.
“It takes just five minutes online and means that you can take part in this important election.”
If you were registered to vote in the last election and your details have not changed, you will still be registered to vote.
If in doubt, check your details by contacting the council’s Electoral Services Team at electoralservices@worcester.gov.uk.
Members elected to the city council on Thursday, May 2 will be responsible for making decisions on running services in the city.
They include housing, planning, parks, leisure, recycling and waste collection.
The elections on May 2 will be for 11 of Worcester’s 35 city councillors.
As well as St Peter’s, polls will be held in the Arborteum, Bedwardine, Cathedral, Claines, Nunnery, St Clement, St John, St Stephen, Warndon Parish North and Warndon Parish South wards.

There will also be polls for the parish councils in St Peter’s and Warndon.
Nine parish councillors will be elected in St Peter’s, four in Warndon Parish Council’s north ward and another four in its south ward.
Residents who have registered to vote but who will not be able to go to a polling station in person on May 2 can apply for a postal vote or arrange for someone else to be able to vote on their behalf with a proxy vote.
