Well-organised club awarded the top FA Charter Standard

Battenhall-based Nunnery Wood Colts Football Club, which has more than 30 youth teams, has been recognised at the top level of the game in England.

The club has again been awarded Charter Standard status by the Football Association (FA).

The club, which plays its home fixtures in Battenhall Road, has proved it is well organised, safe and offers opportunities to all, prioritises child welfare and adheres to FA Respect policies and codes of conduct.

It maintains appropriate levels of discipline, has FA-qualified coaches as standard and has access to the county FA and FA regional workforces.

It can also use the coveted FA Three Lions crest on its marketing and business material.

Among criteria required to achieve the accreditation was having an FA-trained club welfare officer and an FA Level 1 coach for each youth team, at under-18 and below.

Criminal record checks are carried out for all volunteers involved in youth football teams, FA emergency aid-trained volunteers are linked to each team and appropriate governance is in place, in relation to the club’s size.

Colts to host one of the biggest football festivals in city

Nunnery Wood Colts FC is staging one of the biggest football festivals in Worcester this summer, with more than 80 teams taking part.

Held over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, the tournament will be affiliated to Worcestershire County FA and comply fully with its rules and regulations.

It will be held at the Colts’ home ground, Battenhall Fields in Battenhall Road.

As well as football there will be a skills challenge, bouncy castle, barbecue, refreshments, ice cream, a tuck shop, car parking and toilet facilities, all on site.

There will be Micro-soccer (under-7 and under-8), Mini-soccer (under-9 and under-10)  and Youth Soccer (under-11, under-12, under-13 and under-14).

There will be a cup for the winning team in each age category, apart from under-7/under-8, which will be non-competitive.

There will be medals for each finalist player, that is winners and runners-up, with a maximum of 14 medals per team

Under-7/under-8s players will all get a commemorative medal and one team will get the Fair Play trophy.

All funds raised over the two days will go back into the club, enabling it to offer top facilities for youth football across Worcester.

Last year's tournament enabled the club to buy new goals for its home ground.

Information on the football festival is available on the club’s website, nunnerywoodcolts.co.uk.
