Generous residents make it bumper festive collection

Two vans were needed to take donated items collected in St Peter’s to Worcester Foodbank in time for Christmas.

More than 50 volunteers pitched in to pick up items from doorsteps across the ward for the pre-festive collection.

For the first time the collection was supported by Tesco management and staff who unloaded donations from volunteers’ cars and loaded them on to their vans.

The street collection was also supported by volunteers from Worcester Virginia Rotary Club.

One of the collection organisers, St Peter’s parish councillor John Renshaw, described the ward’s residents as “very generous”.

The next street collection in St Peter’s for the foodbank will take place on Saturday, January 29 at 3pm.
