Good citizen Max has VIP day with Mayor
A St Peter’s boy has been presented with a certificate by Worcester’s Mayor recognising his work in clearing up litter on a play area.
More than once Max Surridge has taken out a broom to tidy up mess left on the Grasshopper Park play area.
His efforts prompted ward Conservative city councillor Steve Mackay to recommend him for an award.
Max, accompanied by his parents, Irene and Marcus, visited Mayor Stephen Hodgson in the Mayor’s Parlour at Worcester’s Guildhall.
Mr Hodgson presented Max with the certificate, which contained a citation for “valued support for the community in Worcester”.
He was then given a tour of the Guildhall, including a visit to the building’s former cells.
Max said: “It was amazing and just wonderful, especially wearing the Mayor’s chain, holding the sword and visiting the cells.”
Mrs Surridge said: “As parents we’re immensely proud and I even shed a tear when he was presented with his certificate.
“It’s definitely a visit we’ll never forget.”
