Staff busy as demand for Covid jabs increases

The rollout of Covid vaccinations has gathered momentum at St Peter’s Baptist Church.

People in younger age groups are now receiving their jabs while those in the upper age bracket are getting their second doses.

The demand has seen people queuing up for the vaccinations while a recruitment drive has been launched for more helpers at the hub.

David McDowell, operations manager at the church’s vaccination centre, being run by SW Healthcare, a federation of Worcester GP practices, said: “We’re certainly keeping busy at St Peter’s, delivering first doses to those aged over 36 and second doses to patients aged over 50 or in at-risk groups, from nine weeks after their first.

“Two doses are essential for the highest possible protection against coronavirus, so it’s fantastic to see so many of these patients return for their second dose – it really does make a difference.

“We’ve been incredibly grateful to the residents of St Peter’s their kindness and support as we continue to vaccinate our community.”

He added: “As the programme continues to ramp up we’re expanding our on-site team and we’d encourage any local residents who’d like to be a part of it to get in touch as we’d love to have them on board.”
