Locomotive steams through St Peter's

The age of steam was revived as a train from the era passed through St Peter’s.

The Braunton 34046, built in 1946, was restored during the 1990s and “steamed” in 2007 for the first time since 1965.

It returned to mainline running in 2013.

The train had a test run between Crewe and Chester in June this year, making it the first steam locomotive run on the main line since the coronavirus lockdown.

This photo of the locomotive travelling through St Peter’s was taken by Lawrence Keen.
