King's rugby players have the 'Modus' touch

King’s Worcester beat RGS Worcester at the city's Sixways Stadium to retain the Modus Cup.

King’s won the trophy last time out in 2019.

Tries from Will Chater, Alex Terry, Jack Lyman, Will Wrout and George Hira saw King’s beat RGS 39-12.

King’s foundation director of sport and master in charge of rugby, Jonny Mason, said: “In what is a unique fixture, where there is a huge amount of pressure on the players, it was fantastic to see the King’s squad handle the pressure so well.

“RGS came out strong but our fitness and form held and we played some great rugby, scoring several impressive tries.

“It was a complete performance from the team and they should be very proud of themselves.”

The game was the final in a series of 12 games King’s played against RGS Worcester over two weeks.

From under-12 teams all the way up to under-18s, King’s achieved wins in 10 matches, with one draw and a loss.

More than 3,400 spectators watched the match at Sixways.

King’s headmaster Gareth Doodes said: “The spirit of friendly rivalry displayed by both teams and their supporters was a huge pleasure to be a part of.

“We are looking forward very much to future sporting encounters between our two schools.”
