Work at Power Park may continue into 2022

Power Park is unlikely to be accessible until summer next year as works continue in connection with the installation of the Broomhall Way foot and cycle bridge.

In his report to St Peter's annual parish meeting Alan Tucker said: “The bridge is due to open before the summer of 2021, however it is unlikely that the green spaces will be available for some time, as the works have been extensive and the restoration work including planting and grass growing will need time to establish itself.

“The parish council believes that it is unlikely that part of the parks green spaces will be available until the summer of 2022.”

The works include alleviating flooding with raised walkways, new drainage and an attenuation pond.

New low level lighting and changed pathways also feature, along with a large ramp giving access to the foot bridge.

Substantial green restoration works are being carried out and a revamped football pitch is to be levelled and upgraded.

Play equipment in Area 51 of the park is coming to the end of its useful life and the parish council is looking at how a new play area could be established in the longer term.

June is due to see the installation of long awaited outdoor multi-gym style equipment in the park.
