Decision delay could see sponsors pull out

Sponsorship opportunities for maintenance of a Norton traffic roundabout could be lost due to a delay in approval of signs specifications.

Norton-juxta-Kempsey Parish Council has received an offer from a business for the upkeep of the roundabout at the junction of Norton Road and Crookbarrow Road.

It had to be tidied up earlier this year after becoming overgrown and unkempt.

The parish council’s clerk, Jane Greenway, told members that the size of the signage the potential sponsor would be granted would determine whether or not he proceeded with his offer.

The parish council’s chairman, Kevin Fincher, said: “We have had potential sponsors lined up for some time and we fear we may lose them due to the time taken for Worcestershire County Council Highways to agree specifications for size of sponsor signs and transfer of land.

“The poor state of the roundabout has been a particular source of complaint from parishioners to the parish council.”
