Rollout of Smartwater continues in St Peter's

The rollout of Smartwater to residents of St Peter’s continues over the next week.

The kits, which are free, have traceable liquid which is applied to items of value to deter thieves.

The liquid leaves a long lasting and unique identifier which can be seen under an ultraviolet black light.

The kits will be handed out to residents at St Peter’s Village Hall on Wednesday (February 20) between 7pm and 9pm.

They will also be available at St Peter’s Baptist Church from 10am until noon on Saturday, February 23.

Residents of St Peter’s are welcome to pick up their free kits at those times and will be registered there and then with Smartwater.

The initiative is being driven locally by Conservative councillor Steve Mackay, who represents the St Peter division on Worcestershire County Council.

He said: “The take-up to date has been excellent and we are very close to being able to get proper signage on our streets, indicating that we are a Smartwater-protected area.”
