Worcestershire County Council appoints Strategic Director of People
Worcestershire County Council has appointed Paula Furnival Strategic Director of People.
She will head up the new directorate of People, which has been created as part of the county council’s ongoing organisational redesign.
The directorate includes Adult Social Care, Communities, Public Health and the Council’s working relationship with Worcestershire Children First.
Paula brings with her more than 20 years of experience in adults and children’s social care, the NHS and was previously executive director of Adult Social Care at Walsall Council.
She said: “I am thrilled to be joining the strategic leadership team at Worcestershire County Council.
“We are living in times of great challenge and this is a real reminder to public services to keep people at the heart of everything we do.
“I look forward to taking on this role and working with the breadth of knowledge and skills that colleagues and partners have in Worcestershire.”
During Paula’s time at Walsall Council, she led on a joined-up approach for local government, health and the voluntary and community sectors called Walsall Together.
It was an approach to working better across a range of organisations to improve wellbeing outcomes for residents, which is one of the county council’s key priorities in Worcestershire.
Elaine Carolan, who served as interim director of people, will return to her role of assistant director for social care.
