Application submitted to build offices near Worcestershire Parkway station at Norton

An application to build offices near Worcestershire Parkway station has been submitted to Wychavon District Council.

The scheme for the three or four-storey building is earmarked for a site just off Woodbury Lane, to the east of Norton, close to the western side of the Parkway station.

The application site is a piece of currently undeveloped former agricultural land.

There would be two blocks

A spine road accessing the plot from Woodbury Lane would be retained and a new branch of the road constructed to access the plot on which the blocks would be built.

On-site car parking would be provided, including disabled spaces and electric vehicle spaces, as well as spaces for bicycles and motorcycles.

The proposed design for the speculative application by Norton Parkway Business Park Ltd also includes pedestrian access to and from the site.

South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) policy specifies that: “All development will be expected to be of a high design quality.

“It will need to integrate effectively with its surroundings, in terms of form and function, reinforce local distinctiveness and conserve, and where appropriate, enhance cultural and heritage assets and their settings.

“New and innovative designs will be encouraged and supported where they enhance the overall quality of the built environment.”

Leicestershire-based IMI Architects, which has devised the scheme’s designs, says the Norton proposed development would meet the SWDP requirements and be in keeping with the surrounding area.

Norton-juxta-Kempsey parish councillors are inviting views from local residents before submitting their comments on the scheme by Thursday, July 2.
